Properties:

The TFL is a melamine-saturated décor paper that is thermally fused directly to the substrate such as MDF or particle board. Particleboard and MDF are ideal substrates for TFL because they are consistent, uniform in strength and free of defects.

Advantages:

TFL is an excellent alternative to HPL. It has similar characteristics visually, is scratch resistant and durable. However, it does not have the additional layers of kraft paper, so it is lower cost. TFL cabinetry is delivered and installed pre-finished, saving time and money on the job site, when compared to painting and/or staining. The consistency and stability of the material keep it from warping or expanding and contracting like plywood and solid wood. This will give you a solid cabinetry for years to come without the need to refinish.

Applications:

TFL is recommended for vertical and low impact applications, such as kitchen, bath and office cabinetry. It is often used in healthcare, hospitality, commercial and retail settings. TFL panels can be manufactured with enhanced visual and performance characteristics. Surface textures are created with steel press plates that emboss the decorative overly to heighten the realism of wood grain, stone or abstract designs. Steel press plates can also be used to create or control the gloss level of the surface.
